This is the latest update regarding my temporary closure due to the Coronavirus Crisis. Please check my first message if you did not see it yet.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a stay-at-home executive order requiring all persons in Florida to limit their movements and personal interactions outside of their home. Businesses that are deemed non-essential (including spa & massage therapy) must be close to the public. If I continued to work, this could be considered an illegal act, in which case my insurance would not be valid.
Massage therapists should not be practicing per a March 20 executive order and an email from the Massage Therapy Board: "Today, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-72, regarding non-essential elective medical procedures. All hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, office surgery centers, dental, orthodontic and endodontic offices, and other health care practitioners’ offices in the state of Florida are prohibited from providing any medically unnecessary, non-urgent or non-emergency procedure or surgery which, if delayed, does not place a patient's immediate health, safety or wellbeing at risk, or will, if delayed, not contribute to the worsening of a serious or life-threatening medical condition."
I will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine when it is appropriate for me to re-open my practice again. In the meantime, I partnered with Square to offer 35% off on gift cards. Those are offered only on Square and will be redeemable as soon as it is safe to open again. I appreciate your understanding and support. May your family and loved ones keep safe and healthy as we navigate this unprecedented health emergency together. Sincerely, Melissa
